How to handle driving instructor cancellations

This will be useful if:
You are a learner using the Licence Help booking platform.

You are trying to:
Understand what happens if your instructor cancels a booking.

Overview:
At times, your driving instructor may need to cancel a scheduled lesson. While it’s never ideal, unexpected situations can occur. For example:

  • The instructor is feeling unwell
  • A family member requires their care
  • The instructor’s vehicle is damaged or experiencing mechanical problems

If this happens, your instructor should notify you as soon as possible. They have two options:

Reschedule your lesson
Your instructor can send you a booking proposal. When this happens, your lesson credit will automatically be returned to your Licence Help wallet. See our support guide – How to respond to a booking proposal.

Cancel your lesson
The instructor may cancel the booking online. If so, your lesson credit will be immediately refunded to your Licence Help wallet. See our support guide – How to view your lesson credits.

If you’d prefer to switch to a different instructor and rebook, you can do this anytime without extra cost. See our support guide – How to change your driving instructor.

My instructor hasn’t arrived for my lesson

Step 1.
First, double-check that you have the correct date, time, and location for your booking. See our support guide – How to check my booking.

Step 2.
Try contacting your instructor directly, as they may be nearby or running late. See our support guide – How to contact your instructor.

Step 3.
If you are unable to resolve the issue, please submit a dispute by following the steps in our support guide – How to lodge a dispute.
